About the Client

You will be working for a National Government Agency that is responsible for supporting a variety of interests for the Australian public. This client requires a number of Senior Software Developers to deliver on a number of business requirements.

About the Role

Our client has a need for multiple software engineers to support the development of some of their critical systems.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The Specified Personnel will be responsible for providing the following deliverables including but not limited to:

• The Software Developer is responsible for all significant system / service uplift across the relevant Systems and capabilties
• The role is responsible for planning, developing, maintaining and enhancing specified systems, components and processes. You will apply technical knowledge in the development, maintenance and operation of these systems.
• The role is responsible for developing the application according to business requirements and direction from the capability project team and service business team.
• Perform software design, coding, review, and testing on the systems to deliver technical upgrades and/or new features or capabilities on activities including, but not limited to the planned system transition/integration and other improvements to systems

The Software Engineers will have the following skills and experience:

Mandatory

• Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or experience in fields related to the role and level you are applying for.
• Experience working with or leading ICT project teams using waterfall or Agile delivery methodology.
• Experience in using Microsoft Office or equivalent for documenting, organizing information, delivering presentations and processing data.
• Is well organised and detail focussed, with the ability to prioritise and multi-task to meet deadlines and manage competing tasks.
• Demonstrated experience in supporting or developing software systems, in particular in environments based on Java, JEE frameworks and containerisation (Kubernetes), Oracle, Unix, Windows, HTML5, CSS, Typescript, Javascript, React.
• Demonstrated experience in supporting or integrating software products from third party vendors, including commercial or government off the shelf.

Desirable

• Demonstrated experience working with complex data and statistics in relation to software and application development
• Demonstrated experience in back-end system-to-system integration and data ingestion

Experience Level

This is a Senior role with an expectation of having a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Software Engineering.

Contract Duration

• Initial Contract duration: 12 months
• Extension Options: 2 x 12 Month extension options
• Estimated Start Date: July 2026

Location

This role will be conducted in Canberra, ACT.

Flexible work arrangements are available on strict approval from management

Security Clearance

This role requires an ability to obtain AGSVA NV1 clearance (Please research this if you do not know what this is) however preference on submissions will go to those who already have this clearance.
