Come join the ATSICHS Brisbane family!About The Program Established in 2024, Nyanya Munjindei ATSICHS Brisbane Delegated Authority is our newest child protection program. We work with families to make decisions about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children who are currently involved or at risk of involvement with Child Safety. We support decision-making about: CONNECTION: When, where and how often our kids spend time with family, culture and community. REUNIFICATION: When and how we bring our kids home to parents or another family member, so they will be safe, supported and connected. FAMILY PLANS: Approving family plans. This means that certain care, protection, and connection decisions will be made for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people, by our First Nations CEO, who leads our community-controlled organisation and no longer by child safety. Decisions About Our Kids, Our WayWITH MOB, BY MOBWhat Will You Do In The Role

  • Work with children, young people, families, elders, community, and stakeholders to increase family safety, support and reunification options.
  • Practice Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Family-Led Decision Making (ATSIFLDM) that honours the family's voice, right to self-determinations, and safe connection to family, community and culture.
  • Case management and care coordination.
  • Work in partnership with Child Safety.
  • Interpret and apply the Child Protection Act 1999, including the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Placement Principles, the Human Rights Act 2019, and other associated legislation.
  • Assessments around children and family needs, risk and safety.
  • All administrative and compliance tasks related to the role.

Desired Skills And ExperienceTo be successful in this role you must have:

  • The ability to connect and quickly build rapport with vulnerable children and their families.
  • Certificate IV/Diploma/Bachelor in Community Services or related field.
  • Case management experience 3+ years preferred.
  • Knowledge of QLD Child Protection ACT 1999 or ability to obtain.
  • Natural advocacy skills, promoting cultural understanding, human rights and self-determination.
  • A valid Blue Card, Drivers' Licence, Police Check.
  • Value a deadly team culture.
