About The Role Be the operational glue that brings together, organises and drives efficiencies across AFL Digital Network facilities and production operations. This role will be a pivotal central role supporting the Head of AFL Digital Network, the Director – Original Content and Partnerships, the Managing Editors of AFL, AFLW and Social and the Executive Producer - Editorial Video ensuring seamless delivery, resourcing and creation of content across the AFL Live App, Website, AFL social channels, and selected third-party platforms. We are seeking a highly organised, detail-oriented professional with experience managing operations and digital content or production facilities. You will coordinate resources, manage budgets, roster casual and freelance staff, and implement best-practice workflows and processes to ensure the AFL Digital Network operates efficiently, effectively and generates outstanding output. Your work will directly influence the efficiency and quality of content creation across all AFL channels. You will also manage the health of the AFL’s facility including post-production environment (edit suites), media hub (connectivity, DVN’s streaming), content delivery, archive and Vodcast studios. An understanding of the digital and broadcast technical eco-system, an ability to work with and direct broadcast engineers and IT staff to ensure the facility is fit-for-purpose and management of the Capex budget form a core function of the role. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF Working closely with the senior leadership team of the AFL Digital Network, you will allocate and manage production and facility resources across post-production, studios, and external providers. Key Accountabilities
- Support management of the AFL archive and match broadcast feeds in collaboration with Telstra and AFL Clubs. Schedule, book, and manage freelance and casual production staff.
- Oversee multiple projects and shifting priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Maintain and manage OPEX and CAPEX budgets, process invoices and timesheets, and oversee third-party supplier finances and administrative systems.
- Implement operational best practices to streamline workflows and ensure consistent, high-quality content delivery.
- Build and manage a single source of truth across the AFL Digital Network that manages resourcing, workflow/tasks and budgets.
- Supporting the Head of the AFL Digital Network, lead the strategic design and evolution of the AFL’s digital production facilities to ensure best-practice, high-quality digital content capability and operational efficiency
- Implement and utilise best-practice operational software and systems to maintain efficient and effective operating workflows.
- Manage and communicate with broadcast engineers and IT staff to troubleshoot and improve the quality and ongoing health of the digital content facility
- Manage a number of administrative and financial reporting tasks
You will work closely with the Director, Original Content and Partnerships and the Executive Producer – Editorial Video to help support the co-ordination of production and technical resources that assist in the creation of the weekly content slate alongside industry critical content including AFL and AFLW Grand Final Capture and Film, the AFL Hall of Fame content and diverse content including the Sir Doug Nichols Round honouree film. - Proven experience in broadcast or digital content management.
- Exceptional eye for detail and operational excellence.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Ability to manage resources, budgets, and multiple projects simultaneously.
- Worked with and have a proficiency with leading project and budget management systems
- Experience with studio operations, post-production workflows, and working with external production partners.
- Previous experience working as a production and/or broadcast operations manager, rostering resources, managing financial documents and legal contracts.
