Senior Mechanical Engineer

Contract: 12 months (subject for extension) Location: Sydney, Newcastle, or Brisbane (flexible) About The Role We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team delivering sustaining capital projects across major mining operations on the East Coast. This role offers exposure to a diverse portfolio of work, including iron ore, coal, base metals, lithium, and gold projects. You will play a key role in providing practical, cost-effective engineering solutions for brownfield upgrades and plant improvement projects, working closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams. Key Responsibilities

• Deliver mechanical engineering design and support for sustaining capital and plant upgrade projects.
• Develop solutions that meet operational requirements while optimizing cost and safety.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to ensure successful project outcomes.
• Monitor and manage scope across multiple projects of varying complexity.
• Provide technical leadership and mentoring within the team.

Requirements

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering (RPEQ or CPEng highly regarded).
• 5+ years’ experience in consulting or project delivery within the mining and resources sector.
• Strong background in brownfield projects, sustaining capital, and plant upgrades.
• Broad commodity exposure is advantageous (iron ore, coal, base metals, lithium, gold).
• Proven ability to deliver practical engineering solutions in operational environments.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to build strong client relationships.
