Senior Associate - Property Damage

This is a great opportunity for a Senior Associate Property Damage Lawyer who wants more variety and the chance to step into a leadership role within one of Melbourne’s most respected Insurance practices.

This is a broad practice where you will be acting for commercial, insurer, and self-insured clients, with three core components to the role:

1. Running your own file load of large loss property damage matters involving fires, floods, and defective building work, particularly within the health, childcare, and construction sectors.
2. Mentoring junior lawyers and supervising and settling their work on litigated motor claims, including indemnity and fraud matters.
3. Ongoing appointment as in-house Legal Counsel for a major construction client, providing exposure to a broader mix of commercial and employment matters and a more strategic, client-side perspective.

The Partner is very much present and involved, but this is a no-ego environment where you’ll be trusted to manage your work and engage directly. As one of the most senior members of the team, you will be relied upon for meaningful client responsibility.

This role is best suited to a Senior Associate with at least 3 years’ experience in property damage (ideally having started in motor or another insurance line, with strong property exposure in more recent years), looking to step into a role with greater variety, responsibility, and client interaction.
