What You’ll Do Due to an exciting growth opportunity, Americold is recruiting a General Manager for our Ormeau location. As the General Manager, you will lead all aspects of site operations — strategically, safely, and commercially. You will drive performance, foster a strong safety and engagement culture, and ensure operational excellence aligned with Americold’s standards. You will be responsible for strengthening customer relationships, optimising financial performance, developing talent, and embedding best practices across the facility.
- Full P&L ownership, ensuring financial goals and profitability targets are achieved.
- Provide strong, visible leadership aligned to Americold’s culture, values, and operational goals.
- Build and maintain strong internal and external customer relationships.
- Champion operational excellence across safety, compliance, planning, budgeting, and productivity.
- Inform, guide, and inspire the operations team through consistent communication and leadership presence.
- Drive Associate Engagement, building trust and fostering positive workplace culture.
- Partner with cross‑functional teams to implement Continuous Improvement initiatives and deliver measurable gains.
- Analyse operational performance, develop improvement plans, and drive accountability to results.
- Lead and develop talent, ensuring training, coaching, and capability growth across the team.
- Promote and maintain a strong Safety Awareness culture; uphold all WHS and loss‑prevention requirements.
- Ensure management of associates aligns with Americold policies, guidelines, and best practices.
- Partner with HR on effective workforce planning and labour management strategies.
- Maintain a positive, inclusive work environment where all associates can thrive.
What Experience And Education You Need.
- You will be a strong cultural leader with deep operational and financial management capability. You bring a commercial mindset, proven leadership experience, and the ability to build high‑performing teams in a fast‑paced environment.
- 6–10 years of logistics management experience (retail logistics highly regarded)
- Continuous Improvement certification
- Strong computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Ability to work independently and travel when required
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- A leadership style that brings out the best in people
