We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Head of Process Safety and Technical Assurance to join us in our Engineering and Technical Solutions team in Brisbane QLD, Melbourne VIC, Perth WA or Darwin NT on a Permanent Full Time Contract. Reporting to the General Manager, Engineering & Technical Solutions, you will be responsible for driving process safety maturity by setting strategic direction and leading the development of standards and assurance frameworks. Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and governance of engineering standards, assurance frameworks, and technical competency across Operations.
- Oversee Management of Change (MOC) processes, driving continuous improvement in engineering and process safety practices.
- Standardise and maintain Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) tools and establish process safety KPIs.
- Govern major accident hazards and safety-critical elements to ensure regulatory compliance and risk mitigation.
- Promote a strong process safety culture, supporting incident classification, investigation, and risk escalation.
- Act as the Technical Authority for Process Safety, providing expert advice to Asset Engineering and operational teams.
- Lead and mentor the Process Safety team, and build strong relationships with Operations, HSEH, Group Risk, and external stakeholders.
Your Background
- Extensive experience in process safety leadership within high-risk industries such as energy, oil & gas, or infrastructure.
- Deep understanding of engineering standards, regulatory compliance, and risk management frameworks.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive organisational safety culture and continuous improvement.
- Expertise in MOC processes, PHA methodologies, and the governance of major accident hazards.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills, with experience influencing at both operational and executive levels.
