We now have an exciting opportunity for a Project Director, Gas Powered Generation (GPG) to join our Infrastructure Delivery team on a full‑time permanent basis, based in Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne. Reporting to the General Manager Project Delivery, you will play a key role in provide strategic leadership and oversight for the successful planning, execution, and delivery of major Gas Powered Generation projects across APA’s portfolio. This role is critical in driving the delivery of high‑value, complex energy infrastructure projects that support Australia’s energy transition and APA’s commitment to secure, reliable, and sustainable generation. Key Responsibilities
- Lead end‑to‑end delivery of major Gas Powered Generation projects, ensuring scope, budget, safety, and schedule outcomes are achieved
- Provide strategic direction, oversight, and governance across all GPG project stages, from concept development to commissioning
- Manage and influence cross‑functional project teams, engineering partners, contractors, and key external stakeholders
- Oversee project risk management, compliance, and regulatory approvals for GPG facilities and associated infrastructure
- Champion safety, quality, and environmental performance across all project activities
- Provide clear and timely reporting to senior leadership, including project performance, risks, and strategic outcomes
Your Background
- Extensive experience leading large‑scale infrastructure or energy generation projects, ideally across gas, coal, hydro or hydrogen
- Strong leadership capability with the ability to motivate and direct multidisciplinary project teams and external partners
- Demonstrated expertise in project governance, risk management, regulatory engagement, and commercial oversight
- Proven success delivering complex projects safely, on time, and within budget in a highly regulated environment.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, including influencing executives, regulators, and industry partners
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in engineering, project management, or a related field (postgraduate qualifications desirable)
About The Team The Infrastructure Delivery team is responsible for executing APA’s major capital projects safely, efficiently and to the highest standards. We manage the full lifecycle of large‑scale infrastructure delivery — from early development and design through to construction, commissioning and handover into operations. Our team brings together deep technical expertise, disciplined project governance and strong partnerships with contractors, suppliers and stakeholders to deliver the energy infrastructure that supports Australia’s future.
