Company Description Aspire Academics is an in-person tutoring center in Truganina, Victoria, supporting students from Years 3 to 12 across primary, middle-years, and VCE levels. Founded in 2022 by Melbourne High School graduates, the center is built on a belief that every student deserves access to high-quality, face-to-face teaching, regardless of their starting point. Programs include literacy and numeracy, Maths, English, Science, VCE subjects, selective entry and scholarship exam preparation, as well as public speaking and confidence-building courses. Tutors combine strong subject knowledge with patient, personalized instruction, working in small, supportive classes and maintaining close communication with families to track progress. Role Description This is a part-time, on-site Tutor role based in Truganina, VIC. The Tutor will plan and deliver engaging lessons for small groups and individual students from Years 3 to 12, with a focus on building understanding, confidence, and effective study habits. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing lesson materials aligned with the Victorian curriculum, explaining concepts clearly, guiding practice questions, and adapting teaching methods to different learning styles. The Tutor will monitor student progress, provide constructive feedback, and communicate regularly with families and center staff about goals and achievements. The role also involves maintaining a positive, inclusive classroom environment and contributing to exam preparation, revision sessions, and enrichment programs as needed.
Qualifications
- Strong academic background in relevant subjects (e.g., Mathematics, English, Science, or specific VCE subjects), with high achievement at VCE level or equivalent; current university study or completed degree in Education or a related discipline is highly regarded.
- Demonstrated ability to explain concepts clearly, break down complex ideas, and scaffold learning for students at different levels, from primary to senior secondary.
- Effective classroom and small-group management skills, including the ability to maintain a calm, respectful learning environment and encourage active participation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a genuine commitment to student wellbeing, confidence-building, and positive engagement with families and colleagues.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, including lesson preparation, marking, progress tracking, and reliability in meeting scheduled class times.
- Comfort using basic digital tools for planning, resource creation, and student progress tracking; willingness to learn center-specific systems and processes.
- Prior tutoring or teaching experience (formal or informal) is an advantage, especially in small-group or exam-preparation settings.
- Eligibility to work in Australia and ability to obtain and maintain a current Working with Children Check (or equivalent) and comply
