Role Description This 12-month fixed term Quality Assurance Test Engineer role is the key person for ensuring quality throughout the system development lifecycle by being a part of a collaborative project team. Responsibilities include performing day-to-day software testing activities as part of the SDLC; analysing requirements, designs, documentation, and applications to ensure quality and improving quality assurance by continually reviewing and updating documents related to QA and programming guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaboration with Development Teams: Work closely with software developers and other team members to understand product requirements and ensure effective test coverage across web and mobile applications.
- Test Case Creation and Maintenance: Create and maintain comprehensive test cases based on requirements, design specifications, and user stories.
- Bug Identification & Reporting: Identify, document, and track software defects through the bug tracking system and collaborate with developers to resolve issues.
- Test Environment Setup: Configure and manage test environments to ensure the stability and availability of environments required for testing.
- Performance & Load Testing: Design and execute performance and load tests to ensure scalability and performance of the product under varying levels of user activity.
- Test Coverage and Quality Metrics: Continuously improve test coverage by identifying and addressing gaps, as well as tracking and reporting on test automation progress and metrics.
Required Qualifications:Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
Experience: 3+ years of experience in QA within a product development environment, ideally within the software or education technology industry.
Technical Skills:
- Experience with software testing for web applications
- Proficiency in testing across Windows, macOS, iOS, Android and Chromebooks
- Understanding of Networking, Internet Security, and Linux command line
- Experience with Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar project management tools
- Strong analytical skills for examining bug reports, prioritizing tests, and optimizing application functions
Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality and continuous improvement.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of LDAP, Active Directory, Google Group, DNS, and Group Policy.
- Knowledge of virtualization products, like VMware and Proxmox.
