Role Description This role provides leadership and supervision to team of Industrial and Legal Officers within the Workplace Advice and Support (WAS) Team. The role works autonomously within a collaborate and collegiate environment, reporting to the National Director of IR. The Role Will
- Direct the work of a small team within WAS and appropriately delegate.
- Manage a case load of individual and/ or collective industrial/legal matters.
- Manage complex industrial bargaining campaigns where required.
- Manage and lead projects. This may include, but is not limited to, training, briefing materials, presentations and/or media materials.
- Supervise less experienced employees, including provision of legal supervision.
- Contribute to team reporting and projects.
- Work with and assist the National Director of IR as required.
- Liaise with and develop relationships with other teams within Professional Australia.
- Potential to deputise for the National Director of IR as required.
Experience And Qualifications We are looking for candidates who have:
- Advanced legal/industrial relations knowledge.
- Advanced legal/industrial relations experience.
- Advanced problem-solving skills.
- An advanced level of expertise in the running of individual and/or collective employment matters.
- A high level of negotiation, advocacy and litigation/arbitration expertise.
- An unrestricted Legal Practicing Certificate and the capacity to provide legal supervision (desirable).
- Demonstrated capacity to manage projects and small teams.
- Advanced industrial and employment law expertise.
- Strong communication skills.
- A commitment to union values.
Salary and conditions Range from $117,854 to $128,102 (plus superannuation) Negotiable based on experience. Whilst the position is based at the PA office in West Melbourne, Victoria, staff may be required to travel regionally or interstate from time to time. Staff have access to working from home options in accordance with the APESMA Enterprise Agreement 2023.
