720 MARITIME SUSTAINMENT MARITIME SUSTAINMENT Grade: 7Referral Fee Value: $3000PURPOSE OF JOB: The Warranty Lead plays a critical role within the Program Delivery Office, with responsibility for managing defect and warranty processes across the DCE Program. This position supports the successful mobilisation and ongoing execution of the program by developing, implementing, and maintaining effective defect resolution frameworks that ensure timely rectification and continuous improvement throughout the project lifecycle. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Establish and manage the Warranty and Defect process for the DCE Program, ensuring alignment with program objectives and contractual obligations.
- Collaborate with production, supply chain, and quality teams to gain a thorough understanding of major work packages, embedding and maintaining a consistent defect management process.
- Lead investigations into production defects, gathering and analysing evidence to determine root cause, associated costs, and appropriate rectification plans.
- Participate in production enablement meetings to plan defect repairs, identifying opportunities to carry out work with minimal impact to schedule.
- Oversee the management of defect and warranty claims across the DCE Program, ensuring timely resolution through thorough investigation and effective corrective actions.
- Support the Commercial team and lead engagement with the Commonwealth of Australia (CoA) on cost recovery activities related to warranty and defect claims.
- Prepare and present detailed reporting packs for the DCE Senior Leadership Team and the CoA, providing clear insights into defect and warranty performance.
- Collect and analyse defect data to identify trends and support continuous improvement initiatives for future DCE ship builds.
KEY CRITERIA:
- Engineering degree or relevant industry experience.
- Demonstrated awareness of production defect management and change control processes.
- Proven experience in customer-facing roles, with strong stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience in leading meetings and preparing high-quality reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Background in major defence or large-scale construction projects.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain
