The Opportunity
Bhagwan Marine is looking for an experienced Marine Superintendent to join the team located in Darwin to safely manage the Bhagwan Marine Operations in the region in compliance with statutory requirements and regulatory obligations.
Reporting to the GM-Operations NT, this role is accountable for achieving overseeing and ensuring operational standards are maintained across the Bhagwan Marine Fleet of vessels in the region, effective communication with the crews, and liaising with client representatives to achieve contractual deliverables. Please note: This is not a FIFO position.Your duties will include but not limited to:
- Ensure all vessel certificates are valid and maintained as per statutory requirements.
- Ensure all vessels comply with the Company policies and procedures.
- Ensure vessels are managed and maintained in compliance with statutory rules, regulations, and industry guidelines.
- Liaise with client representatives on an operational matters.
- Assist with operational activities including vessel scheduling, crew selection, personnel management/logistics, and planning updates.
- Report to the GM-Operations NT on any major operational issue that may impact the business.
- Approval of request to purchase (RTP) for vessel group.
- Assist in close out of vessel audits including OVID, CMID, ISM and AMSA Port State.
- Prepare mobilisation plans for all vessels entering new contracts/projects.
- Provide shore-based management support to the Masters on day-to-day operational matters as required.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities on all operational matters.
- Assist the GM-Operations NT in conjunction with Technical Superintendents in coordinating vessel repairs, refits and maintenance.
- Plan and arrange vessel moorings, berthing and wharf requirements for each vessel (as required)
- Assist in developing work scope procedures and operational work instructions from audit outcomes and findings.
- Participate as a member of the shore-based Emergency Response Team (as required).
Ready to jump onboard? Here's what You'll need:
- 5 years of demonstrated marine operational experience.
- Sound knowledge of maritime operations ranging from Marine Construction, Port Services, Oil and Gas an Coastal Towage.
- Demonstrated and proven experience in managing vessels greater than 500GRT.
- Working knowledge of applicable statutory and regulatory authority requirements.
- Knowledge of USL/NSCV & Class legislation and requirements.
- Proven problem solving and analytical skills.
- Leadership skills, including strong motivation, team building and influencing skills.
- Excellent interpersonal verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong computer skills including the MS Office Suite.
