AIR-TO-SURFACE INTEGRATOR (ASI)4 Squadron - Training Design and Development Support
Details: The Air-To-Surface Integration (ASI) Operations Specialist is an expert training specialist. The ASI’s primary function is to provide support for current and emerging Air-Surface Integration training development.
The ASI Operations Specialist is required to be involved in the development of scenario background and in brief to facilitate mission planning. This includes the development of mapping and briefing product in consultation with 4SQN tactical intelligence cell, instructor guides, scripts and consultations with the relevant operators to generate virtual models and entities.
Location: This position will be based at HQACG, RAAF Base Williamtown, NSW, 2314.
Primary Responsibilities: The Air-to-Surface Integrator (ASI) is the team member required to:
• Draw on domain experience to develop realistic training material that blends employment of diverse, complex and contemporary air capabilities with simple ground schemes of maneuver for the purposes of training Combat Control Team (CCT), Combat Control and Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) and ASO in core roles.
• Liaise with HQ78WG SO2 Capability Development (CAPDEV) and/or AWI-CCI Course Director to synchronise training development outcomes for the biennial CCI course.
• Liaise with 4SQN Executive Office (XO) and sub-unit commanders to synchronise training development outcomes for Force Generation (FORGEN) / Raise, Train and Sustain (RTS) and currency / competency training in support of CCT, JTAC and ASO.
• Liaise with Air Warfare Centre Tactics and Training Directorate (AWC TTD), Exercise Control (EXCON) and ACG Plans to incorporate training materials into collective training events.
• Produce course / learning / training materials in accordance with Systems Approach to Defence Learning (SADL) and Manual of Air Force Education & Training (MAFET) to satisfy specified learning outcomes from sever air-land integration communities, with a focus on CCT and JTAC.
• Support and liaise with Combat Support Systems Program (SPO) and Collins Aerospace JTAC Simulator Operations to generate corresponding simulator scenarios for Virtual and Constructive execution of developed learning material.
Secondary Responsibilities:
• Produce learning materials to support delivery of AWI-CCI course under direction of the Course Director;
• Produce learning materials to support delivery of the CCT Full-Mission Qualification (FMQ) under the direction of 4SQN B Flight Commander and/or 4SQN XO;
• Produce learning materials to support delivery of the CCT JTAC / AZM ab-initio, currency / competency and FORGEN training; and
• Assist in the development of training material for the ASO qualification workbook.
Important employment requirements and skills:
• Combat Air Support (CAS) Subject Matter Expert (SME), Multi-Role Fighter Weapons System Officer, Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) instructor or evaluator, or US Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) Special Tactics Combat Controller / Special Tactics Officer/ SOF Tactical Air Control Party or equivalent qualified.
• Combat Control Team (CCT) or equivalent qualified.
• Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) or equivalent qualified.
• Familiarity with Systems Approach to Defence Learning (SADL).
• Familiarity with Manual of Air Force Education and Training (MAFET).
• Effective communication and collaborative skills with the ability to take RAAF operator inputs and shape into specific exercise architectures to meet RAAF AWC requirements.
Desirable employment requirements:
• Familiarity with JTAC Dome and similar Live/Virtual/Constructive (LVC) JTAC training
• Experience in Combat Control Full Mission Qualification (FMQ) for the following training phases; fixed wing, rotary wing, ISR, full mission profile in both live and virtual events.
• Ability to Liaise with senior SME within ACG and communicate effectively to elicit training requirements and brief progress on required deliverables.
• Trusted by 4SQN HQ staff to synchronise training development outcomes for Force Generation (FORGEN), Raise, Train and Sustain (RTS) and currency / competency training in support of CCT, JTAC and ASO.
• Experience in information management and knowledge management IM/KM tools and practices
Security Requirements:
• Able to obtain and maintain Negative Vetting 2 clearance, at minimum, at all times while performing Services.
• Eligible nationality to meet ITAR requirements.
• The incumbent must be eligible to access Australian Eyes Only (AUSTEO) caveated information at all times while performing Services, unless otherwise agreed by the Commonwealth.
Salary Range: $250,000 - $270,000 p.a. (full-time basis) plus superannuation and regular employee leave allowances and benefits.
