Personnel Area: City Planning Economic Development Services Branch: Development Services Salary Range: Band 5 $98,778 - $111,969 plus superannuation (Remuneration stated is for a full-time position) Work type: Temporary Full-time Duration: Up to 2 years Location: Brisbane Square Our Business City Planning and Economic Development Services (CPEDS) is responsible for supporting local businesses, facilitating economic growth, planning for sustainable growth, and delivering development permitting services. Our purpose is to help create a future Brisbane, embracing its inherent qualities while sustainably growing and shaping the city’s unique identity – its liveability, character, economy and environment in alignment with the Brisbane Vision 2031. Our Branch - Development Services Development Services facilitates high-quality, sustainable development outcomes for Brisbane, through efficient and professional development assessment and management processes, systems and practices. The Role As part of the Development Services branch, you will apply your engineering expertise to conduct electronic assessment of development applications. You will ensure compliance with relevant legislation and Council policy and/or assessment of detailed design or construction of assets to be contributed to Council. You will provide engineering advice to customers and assess engineering reports and site works related to road works, drainage and transport and traffic infrastructure, ensuring statutory and Council requirements are met. Development Services branch supports flexible working options, working 3 days in the office, 2 days from home (based on a full-time officer) and after successful completion of probation or full competency in role. There may be opportunities to work off site too. To be successful you will have:

  • ability to apply best practice in engineering principles in assessing development applications
  • ability to work in a complex, legislated environment
  • ability to develop and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • high level proficiency in commonly used computer systems and software, e.g., MS Office
  • engineering assessment and development experience
  • possession of a current “C” Class driver’s licence
  • possession of a White Card (Work Safely in the Construction Industry) is desirable.
