Personnel Area: Governance and Legal Services Branch: Governance, Council and Committee Services Salary Range: AUD $85,678.83 - $94,825.00 per annum plus Superannuation (Remuneration is based on full-time positions) Work Type: Temporary Full Time Duration: Fixed term contract up until November 2026 with the possibility of extension Location: MacGregor Ward Office (this role is 5 days in person at MacGregor Ward office) Commencement: March 2026 About MacGregor Ward: The MacGregor Ward comprises of the suburbs of MacGregor, Eight Mile Plains, Robertson, Upper Mount Gravatt, and Wishart. The ward plays an important role in shaping local services, infrastructure and community outcomes, supporting a diverse and growing population. With a strong mix of residential neighbourhoods, major shopping and business precincts, schools, transport corridors and green spaces, the MacGregor Ward looks to support residents through service delivery, community engagement, infrastructure improvements and local initiatives. Ward Officer A unique opportunity exists for a highly motivated, customer focused person to join MacGregor Ward Office as a Ward Officer. As part of a small team, your role will be to ensure the effective administrative operation of the Councillor's Ward Office as well as liaising effectively with the community, residents and other stakeholders in their interactions with Brisbane City Council. Knowledge (or the ability to obtain) of the local landmarks, streets and community groups is desirable but not mandatory. Key responsibilities:
- providing high level administrative support including a high standard of customer service in all interactions
- managing a high-volume shared email inbox and greeting residents as they enter the office
- resolving a variety of complex customer requests and enquiries, with the ability to take detailed information, submit requests and communicate updates and outcome with residents
- collaborating with our team to create high quality content including marketing for our many community events, ideas for our social media posts and drafting content for our local print publications
- assisting the team with the organisation of local community events (as directed by the Councillor), including booking venues and suppliers, coordinating logistics, and executing advertising and promotional activities.

- a willingness to learn from our experienced team and adapt to any new opportunities and challenges with a positive attitude
- proficient in Microsoft Office with the ability to learn new software as needed
- well-developed interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
- ability to work both autonomously and as a member of a small team
- highly developed time management and prioritisation skills
- experience dealing with sensitive information in a confidential and appropriate manner
- strong attention to detail and desirable previous experience in database usage
- the ability to compile and create business reports, information sheets, presentations and correspondence (emails and letters including unaddressed and direct mail)
- proficiency in a language other than English from a key global region, highly regarded.
