About The Opportunity We have an opportunity available for an experienced Surveillance Officer with expertise in civil and landscape works to join our dedicated team. As a Surveillance Officer, you will be at the forefront of ensuring that contractors meet the highest standards when working on both Council Road networks and private developments. This varied and busy role will see you managing on-site and administrative aspects of permits, conducting site inspections, reviewing CCTV footage, and contributing to asset management. You will play a key role in implementing and maintaining an electronic surveillance records system, ensuring accuracy, documentation, and continuous improvement. You will make an impact by

  • Assessing and administering civil and landscape construction works to ensure compliance with council standards and approved plans.
  • Building and maintaining effective working relationships with developers, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Providing practical, solutions‑focused advice on landscape and subdivisional construction challenges.
  • Managing multiple projects efficiently, balancing priorities to meet deadlines and service expectations.
  • Upholding and actively demonstrating the Cardinia Values Framework in all interactions and decision‑making.

What You Will Bring

  • A current driver’s licence and relevant qualifications in civil and/or landscape construction.
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with developers and contractors within a local government or similar regulatory environment.
  • Strong knowledge of applying council standards to landscape and subdivision developments.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and resolve issues constructively.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, strong time management skills, and the ability to work autonomously while exercising sound judgement.
