LET’S EXPLORE THE JOB Join our Arts, Culture and Tourism (ACT) team as a Community Venues Booking Officer and help bring Lake Macquarie’s cultural and community spaces to life. In this customer-focused and highly organised role, you’ll play a key part in the day-to-day coordination of Council’s venues, supporting the delivery of arts, culture and tourism initiatives across the region. This is a highly visible, community-facing role where you will be the first point of contact for venue users, managing bookings, building strong relationships, and ensuring our spaces are welcoming, well-run and easy to access. You’ll help create vibrant, well-used venues that enable a diverse range of community events and experiences across Lake Macquarie. What You’ll Be Doing

  • Coordinating bookings and enquiries for Council’s cultural and community venues
  • Managing invoicing, applications and booking processes in line with Council policies
  • Building strong relationships with regular hirers, community groups, volunteers and stakeholders
  • Acting as a key point of contact for venue users, delivering a high standard of customer service
  • Coordinating and following up maintenance requests to ensure venues remain safe and functional
  • Maintaining accurate records, generating reports and supporting system improvements
  • Supporting internal teams with systems, processes and administration

  • Occasional on-call work (e.g. outside standard hours to support venue access or urgent issues)
  • Travel between multiple venues as required

You have strong attention to detail and are comfortable working across systems, processes and stakeholders to ensure things run smoothly. What You’ll Bring

  • Certificate IV or above in a relevant qualification or similar experience in an administration or customer service environment
  • Excellent customer service skills with the ability to adjust to a broad audience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Sound computer skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Ability to problem solve, use initiative and exercise sound judgement
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • A collaborative mindset and commitment to a positive team culture

Desirable

  • Experience supporting community venue activation, programming or events, including working with artists, performers or community groups
