If you've had some exposure to PLCs and automation and you're ready to take it seriously—this is where you do it. This isn't a role where you'll be stuck watching from the sidelines. You'll be on the tools, learning fast, and working alongside experienced engineers to build real capability in control systems, automation, and plant performance. About The Role Join a well-established manufacturing site within CSR's Interior Systems (Gyprock) business, where automation is critical to output, quality, and safety. You'll work closely with an experienced Controls Systems Engineer while getting hands-on across real plant systems from day one. If you're early in your career—or coming from an electrical background and want to move into automation—this is the kind of role that accelerates things. Key Responsibilities
- Supporting and improving site automation systems across a live manufacturing environment
- Getting hands-on with PLCs (Allen Bradley), SCADA systems, and plant controls
- Assisting with installations, commissioning, and fault finding
- Troubleshooting issues and contributing to root cause analysis
- Working on continuous improvement initiatives and automation upgrades
- Collaborating with production, maintenance, and contractors on site
- Supporting preventative and predictive maintenance strategies
About You You don't need to have done it all—but you do need the right foundation and attitude.
- Exposure to PLCs (Allen Bradley ideal) – whether hands-on, uni, or early career
- Engineering degree (Electrical, Mechatronics or similar) or A-Grade Electrical Licence
- Interest in automation, control systems, and manufacturing environments
- Basic understanding of SCADA or robotics (nice to have, not essential)
- Strong problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn
- Good communication skills and ability to work with different stakeholders
- High attention to detail and a safety-first approach
