Job Details:Job Summary: A Senior System Administrator is responsible for ensuring reliable communication and IT systems across Cubic’s Air Ranges and Debrief Support (ARDS) environment. This involves, planning, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting system infrastructure, as well as addressing security concerns and ensuring compliance with regulations. This position works under limited supervision, and liaises regularly with military aircrew. This position also implements and operates tactical data links and performs security officer functions as part of core activities. Whilst on deployment, this role also provides mentoring and planning oversight to the Systems Administrator. Essential Duties, Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Plans and implements new or updated ICT systems, including hardware and software configurations.
  • Assess and analyze unusual circumstances and uses sophisticated analytical and problem-solving techniques to identify cause.
  • Assess and resolve a wide range of issues in innovative ways and suggest variations in approach to resolve complex ICT, security and debrief support problems.
  • Works independently to solve problems and as part of a team towards broader systems implementation strategies to deliver unique customer requirements.
  • Administration and implementation of various ICT infrastructure.
  • Release management of firmware and patch updates to the Applications, Operating Systems and Infrastructure.
  • Maintaining existing ICT infrastructure, diagnosing and resolving issues, and ensuring optimal system performance.
  • Fulfil the duties and obligations of the ARDS security officer.
  • Implementing and maintaining system security measures, such as Defence directed security policy, intrusion detection systems, and encryption, to protect sensitive information.
  • Ensuring that ICT systems comply with relevant regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Review and maintain completed and up-to-date technical documentation for the ARDS environment.
  • Maintain a solid understanding of ASCS ISM Security Controls for the environment
  • Working with other IT and engineering teams to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Monitoring system performance, analyzing network traffic, and identifying and resolving potential issues and executing incident response plans.
  • Present and demonstrate new mission debriefing software releases to RAAF aircrew and implement software updates
  • Perform mission debrief duties, employing specialist hardware and software during Defence Large Force Exercises
  • Perform maintenance of computers and associated peripherals as required 18. Maintain records of all support and repair activities in accordance with contractual requirements
  • Develop and maintain mission debrief training packages.
  • Train military aircrew and groundcrew in the operation of mission debriefing systems, while enhancing relationships with internal and external stakeholders. 21. Participate in continual professional development and ongoing network related training courses
  • Perform customer demonstrations and briefings at conferences and summits.

General Duties:

  • Comply with Cubic’s Quality Management System
  • Comply with Cubic Occupational Health, Safety and Environment policies and procedures
  • Comply with security in accordance with established policies and procedures of the organisations
  • Comply with Cubic Human Resources Procedures
  • Effectively and regularly communicate with ARDS ICT Team
  • Other duties as requested

Background and Experience:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Telecommunications or Engineering; or equivalent experience in a Defence related IT field
  • Defence related specialist security experience
  • Defence Tactical Data Link experience
  • CompTIA A+ and/or CompTIA Network+ Certification or equivalent experience
  • Microsoft Operating System experience desirable
  • Red Hat Linux experience desirable
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in a relevant Defence IT or similar environment with a qualification; or at least nine years experience with no qualification
  • Good communication and language, literacy, and numeracy skills.
  • Ability to lift 25kgs

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must be an Australian Citizen
  • Currently holds a Negative Vetting 1 security clearance and is deemed suitable for Negative Vetting 2, as per AGSVA eligibility guidelines
  • Employment may be contingent on the satisfactory result of criminal and/or other background screens, which require the collection and transfer of personal information
