The Team: The Stomal Therapy team works alongside K9 West General Surgery and Vascular Unit at Royal Hobart Hospital to provide specialised, patient-centred care for patients requiring stomal therapy services across inpatient and outpatient settings. Our team works collaboratively with surgical, nursing, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, compassionate, and evidence-based care while supporting education, advocacy, and positive patient outcomes. The Role: The CNC – Stomal Therapy provides advanced clinical expertise, leadership, education, and coordination in specialised stomal therapy care within Surgical and Perioperative Services. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing expert advice and support regarding stomal therapy care and products
  • Coordinating inpatient and outpatient stomal therapy management
  • Supporting patients and carers through education and discharge planning
  • Leading staff education and acting as a clinical resource for the multidisciplinary team
  • Supporting quality improvement, policy development, and evidence-based practice initiatives
  • Promoting safe, high-quality, and patient-centred care across the service

You will need:

  • Extensive knowledge of, and commitment to, best practice in Stomal Therapy products, management, and patient care.
  • Broad clinical and operational experience with inpatient and outpatient Surgical and Perioperative Services, in the acute setting, and a demonstrated understanding of patient safety.
  • Demonstrated high level interpersonal, communication, mediation, and conflict resolution skills with the ability to effectively liaise with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders and have a demonstrated ability to influence and motivate staff.

Note: - Please refer to the Statement of Duties for all the selection criteria of this position to address in your application. Details of appointment: Permanent, part time, day worker position, working 32 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies. Salary: $118,297 to $125,543 per annum (Pro rata). Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmania State Service) Agreement 2023.

Access to the Grade 4 salary range $102,439- $109,175 is subject to successful application for progression to Grade 4 In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 10% based on qualification type

Salary Packaging: You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible. Benefits available to eligible candidates:

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
