The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Project Officer to provide a critical role within the Security Standards Unit. About The Business Unit The Security Standards Unit sits within the Security and Intelligence Division and is a diverse team responsible for several key functions in maintaining security and safety in prisons. These core functions include security risk management, schematic and emergency plans, state-wide locksmithing services, maintaining policy and standards documents, enhancing barrier control and security screening processes, and the research and implementation of security technology. About The Role The Project Officer, Security Standards Unit (SSU) is pivotal in the delivery of crucial strategic projects for Corrections Victoria relating to security, technology and barrier control. In this role, you will gain insight into the unique challenges facing Corrections Victoria and be in the foreground of solving complex problems focused on keeping people safe. This role operates within a complex and dynamic environment that requires capacity to balance competing priorities, be well organised and deliver work within timeframes. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required to perform the role well, along with the ability to liaise with staff and key stakeholders within and external to Corrections Victoria. The role is based at the Statewide Services Building, Western Plains Correctional Centre in Lara. Some Of Your Duties Will Include

  • Support the delivery of various high-level and complex operational and strategic projects related to the SSU's responsibilities.
  • Prepare high-level briefing papers, correspondence, and reports on various issues in a time-pressured environment.
  • Provide support related to procurement, contract and asset management activities of the Unit, including aiding the Unit regarding budget and financial matters.

  • Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of the corrections system and key issues impacting Corrections Victoria.
  • Proven ability to plan, monitor and oversee project objectives.
  • Confidence in using Microsoft Office programs.
  • Proven written communication skills.

Qualifications

  • There are no mandatory requirements for this role; however, qualifications in a relevant discipline would be well regarded, as would working knowledge of government administrative processes.
