Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia’s future.

Downer Professional Services comprises of three business units our Technical, Advisory, and Capability consulting practice, and Team Downer, which partners with CASG and NSSG as a major service provider to Defence. Together, we are a multi-disciplinary advisory and delivery partner of choice for clients across Defence and National Security.

We currently have an opportunity for a Project Support Officer in Canberra to work with the Land Network Integration Centre (LNIC).What You’ll Do

This role offers a broad scope, with key role responsibilities including:

  • Plan, coordinate and manage program activities, including scheduling and organising meetings, maintaining agendas and producing minutes and action items.
  • Create, maintain and archive high‑quality project artefacts, such as agendas, minutes, schedules, progress reports and risk/opportunity registers.
  • Support PMO operations, including communications, records management, budget tracking and ensuring compliance with ADF, Army and LNIC policies.
  • Assist the LCS Program Management Officer, contributing to presentations, stakeholder engagement, SOP development, information‑management tools, procurement support and project administration.
  • Provide flexible program support, undertaking additional tasks assigned by the LCS Program Manager or authorised delegates to meet program and organisational needs.

What You’ll Bring

  • Industry project management experience, meeting Level 2 DSS panel requirements, with the candidate required to be Canberra‑based for the duration of the engagement.
  • Highly desirable extensive experience (12+ years) in project or program support within secure ICT or Defence environments, including developing project/program artefacts.
  • Strong organisational, communication and stakeholder‑management skills, with the ability to operate effectively across internal and cross‑organisation groups in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Knowledge of Defence frameworks and governance, including the One Defence Capability System, PGPA Act requirements, budgeting, planning and reporting processes.
  • Experience supporting project controls and administration, including information management tools, adherence to policy and procedures, and the ability to work independently without reliance on parent‑company support.

Due to the nature of the work, you are required to currently hold and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 or higher Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth. In some instances, compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) requirements may also be an inherent requirement.
