The Role We are seeking an experienced Configuration Risk & Safety Manager to support engineering management activities within a complex Defence ICT and systems integration environment. Working within an integrated workforce, the successful candidate will support the Engineering Management System (EMS) and provide configuration, risk and safety management support across engineering activities, systems governance and technical assurance functions. Key Responsibilities Include
- Managing and coordinating configuration, risk and safety engineering activities and associated process artefacts.
- Providing strategic technical advice and governance relating to configuration and change management.
- Coordinating Configuration Control Boards (CCBs), Risk and Issues workshops and Systems Safety Working Groups (SSWGs).
- Managing Configuration Items and Engineering Changes using configuration management systems and tools.
- Supporting system safety reviews, trials and engineering governance activities across integrated projects and secure ICT/C4I environments.
- Managing and tracking system safety related technical requirements, risks, hazards and mitigations.
- Supporting Technical Authority delegations and Engineering Management System activities.
- Providing leadership, mentoring and independent reviews of configuration management practices.
- Supporting stakeholder engagement activities, working groups, field trials and project integration activities.
- Undertaking additional engineering and governance support activities as required.
About You The successful candidate will demonstrate strong experience in configuration, risk and safety management within complex Defence or Defence Industry environments. You Will Ideally Possess
- Extensive experience in change management and risk management, preferably within Defence environments.
- Experience working with secure C4I systems, networks and associated software.
- Strong understanding of configuration management, systems engineering and engineering governance processes.
- Experience supporting engineering reviews, safety activities and technical assurance functions.
- Knowledge of Defence standards, processes and technical regulatory frameworks.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering and project teams.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, coordination and communication skills.
- Knowledge of Land Materiel Safety Manual (LMSM) processes and military safety frameworks.
- Understanding of Work Health and Safety (WHS), risk and hazard management principles.
- Experience supporting Technical Authority or Engineering Management System activities.
Highly Desirable ITIL qualifications including:
- Foundations
- Release, Control and Validation
- Release Management
Extensive Experience In
- Change Management
- Risk Management (including ISO 31000)
Experience With
- Secure C4I systems, networks and associated software
- Design, build and test functions within Defence ICT environments
- Defence standards, engineering processes and Technical Regulatory Frameworks
- Engineering Management Systems (EMS)
Knowledge Of
- Land Materiel Safety Manual (LMSM)
- Military safety policies and standards
- WHS legislation and hazard/risk management frameworks
Demonstrated Experience
- Leading multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Supporting Technical Authority delegations
- Managing engineering configuration, risk and safety governance activities
