Administration Hobart Part Time Icon Cancer Centre Australia Part‑Time Medical Administrator - Icon Cancer Centre Hobart At Icon Cancer Centre, we deliver compassionate, patient‑centred care with a focus on clinical excellence and innovation. We are currently seeking a part‑time Medical Administrator to join our Hobart team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a busy healthcare environment, enjoys helping people, and has a passion for providing exceptional service. The Opportunity As a Medical Administrator, you will be the welcoming face of our centre and a key support to patients, families, clinicians and the broader care team. Your role will contribute directly to the smooth running of our day oncology hospital, radiation therapy services and consulting clinics. This position is responsible for:

  • Greeting patients and visitors in a professional and friendly manner
  • Coordinating patient admissions, discharges and outpatient appointments
  • Managing waiting room flow to support safe and efficient care
  • Maintaining accurate patient details and ensuring confidentiality
  • Booking and coordinating treatment appointments, considering clinical protocols and resource availability
  • Supporting billing processes, including invoicing, payments, reconciliation and Medicare claims
  • Providing administrative and secretarial support to medical practitioners
  • Assisting with preparation for clinical sessions, including appointment lists, messages and documentation
  • Liaising with hospital wards, referrers and other health providers
  • Participating in quality improvement, workplace safety and accreditation activities
  • Supporting other administrative areas across Medical Oncology and Radiation Oncology as required

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • A warm, professional and efficient manner both in person and over the phone
  • Ability to work collaboratively and support colleagues
  • High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Flexibility to work across different administrative functions
  • Confidence using Microsoft Outlook and practice management systems

Desired experience

  • Completion of a Medical Receptionist Course or equivalent
  • Around three years of medical reception or clinical support experience
  • Experience handling sensitive information and interacting with patients and clinicians
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work calmly under pressure
