One of our federal Government clients is seeking to engage Senior Front End Designer and Developer for Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney locations
Please note Candidate must have Baseline Security clearanceInitial contract duration-12 Months

Overview -
The User Experience Front-end Developer will support the User Experience team in delivering the Health Business Systems Design System which will be used across the Microsoft Dynamics 365 applications delivered by the branch. The User Experience Front-end Developer will develop the base code structure to support the Design System enabling delivery team developers to implement the standardised code into their applications. This will ensure consistency with design standards and patterns and enable faster solution implementation by using accessibility and usability tested functions.
The User Experience Front-end Developer will also be available to aid project delivery teams as required.
The User Experience Front-end Developer will assist with team activities including but not limited to:
- Improve usability of branch web applications by collaborating closely with UX and interaction designers, other programmers, and back-end developers.
- Work collaboratively and communicate effectively within the MDT to present best practice, take and provide feedback
- Developing and transform prototype designs into usable products and web applications.
- Optimising web applications for mobile responsiveness.
- Fixing bugs and testing web applications for usability.
- Design, build, and maintain highly reusable JavaScript, jQuery, HTML and SCSS code.
- Understand the limitations of the utilised tech stack and business model and provide technical advice wherever necessary.
- Mentoring and developing Front-end Developer resources
Key duties and responsibilities
The User Experience Front-end Developer will assist with team activities including but not limited to:
- Improve usability of branch web applications by collaborating closely with UX and interaction designers, other programmers, and back-end developers.
- Developing and transform prototype designs into usable products and web applications.
- Optimising web applications for mobile responsiveness.
- Fixing bugs and testing web applications for usability.
- Design, build, and maintain highly reusable JavaScript, jQuery, HTML and SCSS code.
- Understand the limitations of the utilised tech stack and business model and provide technical advice wherever necessary.
Essential criteria
- 1.At least 2 years of commercial experience as a front-end developer in the Commonwealth of Australia (or equivalent similar sized organisation)
- 2.Front end development expertise and code quality: Demonstrated experience delivering production quality front end solutions using JavaScript, jQuery, HTML and SCSS, with a strong focus on reusable, maintainable and performant code. Evidence of applying sound software design principles and technical judgement to deliver scalable solutions.
- 3.Design system delivery and reuse at scale: Proven ability to design, build and maintain shared front end components and code libraries that support a design system, enabling consistent implementation across multiple applications. Demonstrated experience supporting other developers to adopt standardised patterns and improving delivery efficiency through reuse.
- 4.Accessibility, usability and responsive user interfaces: Demonstrated experience building accessible, usable and responsive web applications, including compliance with latest WCAG standards. Evidence of identifying, resolving and preventing accessibility or usability issues through testing, remediation and continuous improvement.
- 5.Translating UX designs into user centred solutions: Strong experience collaborating with UX/UI designers, systems analysts and multidisciplinary teams to translate prototypes and designs into functional applications, applying Human Centred Design principles and balancing design intent with technical and platform constraints.
- 6.Agile delivery, problem solving and stakeholder collaboration: Demonstrated experience working effectively in Agile delivery environments, independently tackling ambiguous problems from inception to release. Strong communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to provide clear technical advice, work constructively with stakeholders and contribute to shared delivery outcomes.
Desirable criteria
- 1.Experience with Microsoft Power Apps front end development.
- 2.Experience using Figma, or equivalent tools.
- 3.Experience with backend templating languages (e.g. liquid, PHP, TWIG).
- 4.Qualifications relating to computing environment or bachelor’s degree in business, business administration or a relevant information technology field.
