Senior Business Development Manager

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Business Development Manager (BDM) to join their team based in Canberra. They are at the forefront of Avionics, ISR, RADAR and Optics. Their capabilities are widely used in commercial and defence systems and platforms worldwide. To be successful the BDM will have experience in and be responsible for driving sales and managing customer relationships across various markets, including government agencies, defence and potentially offshore clients and commercial entities. The ideal candidate will be required to explore and develop of new customers, across Australia and APAC. An additional responsibility will be to develop plans for after-sales support. This is an important aspect that will also need to be created and developed.

• Develop and win new business
• Experienced in planning and forecasting sales and opportunities
• Execute sales plans
• Maximise the portfolio of existing clients
• Report Directly into the Head of Sales
• Have a traceable sales record
• Appreciate different markets; Commercial, Government Agencies
• Develop and implement business strategies
• Target new markets and maintain market share.
• Help shape tenders and bids
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong relationships.
• Good technical knowledge relating to the aforementioned technology

The Person

• Qualifications in Engineering would be desirable.
• A proven background in business development with Account Management experience
• A strong network in Defence Aerospace
• Thrive in developing existing markets as well as targeting new markets.
• Passionate about winning and developing new business.
• The ability to speak to senior decision makers with confidence
• New business focused
• Excellent Relationship building skills.
• Must hold or be able to attain and maintain an AGSVA clearance
