Your New Role And Responsibilities As the leading member of our software engineering team, you will provide expert technical direction, leadership, and hands-on problem-solving to software engineering teams to deliver innovative and high-value solutions to a variety of complex technical challenges for our customer. You will be involved in the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) that includes planning, design, development and testing, you will be frequently applying a broad range of tools and latest technologies, and exploring creative ways and new approaches to implementing software solutions.

  • Lead and mentor software engineering teams, fostering collaboration, capability development, and effective communication across multidisciplinary stakeholders.
  • Drive software design, development, integration, testing, and deployment, contributing hands-on while providing technical leadership.
  • Evolve software engineering practices, including methodologies, tools, technologies, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with product owners and systems engineers to analyse requirements and define optimal engineering approaches.
  • Ensure high software quality and delivery readiness, adhering to defined engineering processes, system release, and deployment standards.
  • Represent software engineering at program level, leading R&D, prototyping, investigations, and contributing to forums, workshops, and readiness activities.

What You’ll Bring To Make An Impact

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience with relevant specialised training.
  • Proven experience in a senior or lead role within an engineering, software, or project-based environment.
  • Strong understanding of Agile delivery, including Agile, Kanban, and related software development methodologies.
  • Experience integrating complex systems, including external APIs and services (REST, SOAP, messaging) and open-source technologies.
  • Hands-on expertise with modern DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes), and supporting tools.
  • Familiarity with geospatial systems and collaboration tools, including JIRA and Confluence, with a proactive, business-focused mindset.
