About the role

SENIOR STRUCTURAL ENGINEER - Brisbane

  • Nationally Recognised Consultancy
  • Team Leadership / Commercial, Industrial & Residential Projects
  • Ongoing Career Development / regular recognition meetings
  • Salary $168 -157k depending on experience

You've developed your structural engineering expertise. Now it's time to put it to greater use.

  • You've reached a stage in your career where you're confident in your technical ability, comfortable managing projects and ready to take greater responsibility for the people around you.
  • But you also recognise that there's always more to learn.
  • What if you could join one of Australia's most recognised engineering consultancies, lead your own team and continue developing your technical and leadership capabilities through regular internal and external training?

This opportunity offers exactly that.

  • A consultancy with national recognition and genuine project diversity
  • With multiple offices across Australia, this highly regarded engineering consultancy has established an excellent reputation for delivering structural engineering solutions across a broad range of building sectors.

You'll be joining an experienced and supportive Sydney team, working on projects that offer genuine technical variety rather than repeatedly delivering the same type of building.

The project portfolio includes:

  • Commercial buildings, shopping centres and retail developments.
  • Council and local government buildings.
  • Hospitals, healthcare facilities and community infrastructure.
  • Large automotive showrooms and dealership facilities.
  • Libraries and public buildings.
  • Low to mid-rise residential developments.
  • Major industrial warehouses and distribution centres.
  • Specialist industrial facilities and unique structural projects across NSW and interstate.

The diversity of projects means you'll have the opportunity to broaden your experience, tackle new engineering challenges, and remain actively involved in technical design.

Lead a team while remaining technically involved

  • You'll be responsible for managing and mentoring a team of approximately five Structural Engineers and Designers.
  • This is a hands-on leadership position where your technical knowledge, judgement, and ability to develop others will be highly valued.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading structural design and delivery across commercial, industrial, and residential projects.
  • Managing and supporting a team of approximately five engineers and designers.
  • Providing technical guidance, design reviews, and quality assurance.
  • Coordinating with architects, builders, developers, and other engineering disciplines.
  • Overseeing project delivery, technical outcomes, and client expectations.
  • Mentoring developing engineers and encouraging a collaborative team environment.
  • Contributing to complex structural solutions across both local and interstate projects.

You'll have the opportunity to influence how projects are delivered while continuing to strengthen your own technical expertise.

Your development doesn't stop because you've reached Senior level

  • One of the most attractive aspects of this consultancy is its commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • You'll have access to regular internal and external training, technical knowledge-sharing, and opportunities to learn from experienced engineers across the company's national network.
  • Whether you're looking to deepen your expertise in complex structural analysis, improve your project leadership capabilities or prepare for the next stage of your career, the business is committed to supporting your development.
  • The expectation isn't that you arrive knowing everything.
  • It's that you bring a strong technical foundation, a willingness to keep learning and the ability to help others develop alongside you.

What we're looking for:

  • Strong Australian structural engineering consultancy experience across building structures.
  • Demonstrated experience in commercial, industrial, or residential structural design.
  • A sound understanding of structural analysis and design using ETABS.
  • Familiarity with Revit and SpaceGass would be advantageous.
  • Experience managing projects and providing technical guidance to other engineers.
  • The confidence to lead and mentor a small engineering team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to work effectively with clients, architects, builders, and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • A genuine interest in ongoing technical development and professional growth.

You don't need to have worked across every project sector listed.

  • What matters is that you have the technical capability, leadership potential, and enthusiasm to contribute to a well-established engineering team.
  • A role where your experience will be valued
  • This isn't simply another Senior Structural Engineer position focused on meeting deadlines and producing designs.
  • It's an opportunity to join a nationally respected consultancy, take responsibility for a capable team and contribute to a diverse portfolio of projects while continuing to develop professionally.
  • You'll have the resources and support of a national organisation, combined with the opportunity to make a meaningful contribution at a local team level.
  • Your next move should develop both your career and your capabilities.
  • If you're looking for greater responsibility, interesting structural engineering challenges and an organisation that continues investing in its people, this opportunity deserves a confidential conversation.
