  • Work on exciting non‑coal projects across renewables, gas & critical minerals
  • Join a global Corporate Development team shaping Peabody’s future strategy
  • Great role for curious, hands on analysts looking to grow and learn quickly

Peabody is a leading global coal producer, providing essential products for the production of affordable, reliable energy and steel. The company offers significant scale, high-quality assets, and diversity in geography and products. Peabody is guided by seven core values: Safety, Customer Focus, Leadership, People, Excellence, Integrity, and Sustainability.

About the Role

Peabody is expanding its Corporate Development team to accelerate growth across non‑coal ventures, including gas, solar & wind renewables, rare earths, and critical minerals. As a Corporate Development Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in evaluating new opportunities, supporting transactions, and shaping the company’s long term growth strategy beyond coal.

This is a junior level role, perfect for someone with foundational financial modelling and presentation exposure and a naturally curious, adaptable, and hands‑on approach. You will be supported by senior team members and have the opportunity to broaden your experience across multiple commodities and energy markets.

What You Will Do

  • Support the full deal cycle for acquisitions, joint ventures, divestitures, and new project developments
  • Conduct market and commercial analysis to identify and assess strategic growth opportunities
  • Build and maintain financial models (DCF, IRR, NPV) with guidance from experienced team members
  • Prepare investment papers, presentations, and insights for senior leadership
  • Assist in coordinating due diligence across internal teams and external advisors
  • Track competitor activity, market dynamics, and industry transactions
  • Contribute to Peabody’s annual corporate strategy process

The Lifestyle

This position is offered on a Monday to Friday basis, working from our Fortitude Valley office with flexible start/finish times and a redistributed working week giving employees the option to finish at noon on Fridays.

About you

You are a naturally curious thinker who enjoys uncovering insights, solving problems, and understanding how new markets work. You are comfortable adapting to change and thrive in environments where you get involved in many areas.

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Relevant degree in a advance finance and economics, business, or engineering discipline
  • 1–3 years’ experience in investment banking, corporate finance, strategy, business development, consulting or mining environment.
  • Financial modelling capability
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to simplify complex ideas
  • Ability to engage with stakeholders across business areas for collaboration and support
  • A flexible, hands on mindset and eagerness to learn
  • Ability to manage confidential information with maturity

Why join Peabody?

  • Join a global team shaping Peabody’s future beyond coal
  • Work across renewables, gas, rare earths, and critical minerals
  • Learn from senior leaders in corporate development, strategy, and new energy markets
  • Accelerate your development in a supportive, collaborative environment
  • Brisbane CBD location with flexible working and genuine career pathways
  • Competitive salary package with excellent short-term incentive plan.
  • Unlock more than 2,000 health and wellness perks with WHEREFIT.
  • Contemporary office in Fortitude Valley, complemented by flexible work options.
  • Access tax benefits with our novated vehicle leasing program.
  • Exclusive discounts on private health insurance.
