Managing Director – Consultant Relations (Asia Pacific) – Global Asset Manager, Sydney or Melbourne

Our client is a multi-billion-dollar global asset manager with a long-established global presence delivering investment solutions to institutional investors, financial intermediaries and private wealth clients. The firm offers a diversified platform spanning equities, fixed income and alternative strategies, supported by a globally integrated research and investment platform.

We are looking to appoint a Managing Director of Consultant Relations for APAC to join the Global Client Group. Based in Sydney or Melbourne, this senior role will lead the development and execution of consultant engagement strategies across Australia and Asia ex-Japan, with a focus on building strong advocacy for the firm’s investment capabilities across institutional consulting firms and retail research houses.

This position will play a pivotal role in strengthening the firm’s brand and presence within the consultant community. Responsibilities include managing key relationships with institutional consultants, supporting research ratings and product adoption, and identifying new strategic opportunities with advisory and OCIO businesses. The role will also oversee the regional consultant relations team, providing leadership, guidance and coordination across consultant-facing activity throughout APAC.

Working closely with global consultant relations leadership, institutional sales teams, product specialists and investment teams, you will ensure alignment between consultant insights, client needs and the firm’s global investment capabilities. The role also involves identifying emerging market trends, contributing to product strategy discussions and supporting broader business development initiatives across the region.

The successful candidate will bring 10+ years of experience within the asset management industry, ideally within consultant relations, institutional sales, investment strategy or a related function. A strong understanding of the institutional and retail consulting landscape in Australia and Asia is essential, alongside a proven ability to influence key stakeholders and grow brand advocacy within the consultant channel. You will demonstrate strong communication skills, commercial acumen and the leadership capability to manage and develop a high-performing regional team.
