Job Description

Posted on: November 28, 2025

  • Coordinate a small, skilled team in a critical marine maintenance workshop supporting vessel operations and upgrades.
  • Expand your experience into maritime maintenance with ongoing training and development opportunities.
  • Monday to Friday role (40-hour week) with a rostered day off every 4 weeks – giving you time back for what matters most.
  • Access to free onsite parking, electric vehicle charges, gym and wellbeing programs.

Ready for the best career you never imagined? Join us as Workshop Lead, where you will plan, coordinate and oversee workshop activities that support vessel maintenance, refit preparation, upgrades and modifications to vessels and their equipment. You’ll guide and support a small team of tradespeople providing coaching, training and technical expertise while actively participating in work activities and demonstrating trade excellence. Technical, organised and engaged: Here’s who we’re looking for.

  • You’re trade qualified (preferably boilermaker/mechanical fitter) and bring hands-on supervisory experience ensuring workshop activities are planned, coordinated, and delivered safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively.
  • You have solid maintenance experience, an understanding of relevant materials and classifications, and an interest in expanding your knowledge of the maritime industry.
  • You’re committed to safety and wellbeing—for your team, contractors, and visitors—by fostering a culture where safety always comes first.
  • You’re skilled in troubleshooting and problem-solving, providing technical expertise and guidance to keep operations running smoothly.
  • You’re comfortable using computerised maintenance management systems (such as MEX or SAP) and capable navigating digital tools.
  • You’ve strong attention to detail, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and keep everything on track.

This bit matters! We’re an equal opportunity employer and we’re proud of our diverse work environment. We are also on our own journey to support an even more diverse and inclusive workplace culture. We recognise the need to continue to encourage diversity and strive to have a workforce that is representative of our community. If you have any questions about our inclusivity or accessibility, please do get in touch. Five reasons why we hope you’ll apply. You'll enjoy some great benefits at Port of Brisbane, like a Healthy Lifestyle Program, free on-site gym, a subsidised café, free parking with EV charging stations and a commitment to developing our people. But joining us in this role should mean so much more.

  • A diverse role where every day’s different

As Workshop Lead, you'll work closely with a skilled team, coordinating activities that keep our vessels operating safely and efficiently. What’s more, you’ll love the opportunity to contribute to the protection and performance of the Port of Brisbane.

  • An important job, a powerful purpose

What we do at Port of Brisbane affects all Queenslanders and many who visit our proud state. In this role, you’ll play a key part in keeping our operations safe, efficient, and reliable, ensuring vessels are ready to deliver.

  • A place where flexibility matters too

We expect a lot from our people, who are committed and dedicated to our mission. In return for your efforts, you'll enjoy the flexibility and balance no matter what’s important to you.

  • A welcoming, supportive culture

You’ll find so many friendly, connected people at Port of Brisbane, and our Marine team are no exception. From our long termers who will share their guidance and understanding of the past, to our new team members bringing new ideas, and the steady hands of those in between – you’ll find a team focused on delivery.

  • A proud reputation; a bright future

You’ll join a company renowned for best practice in our industry, and a Marine team that is proud of the impact we make. Ready for the best career you never imagined? Apply today! If you’re interested in the role and think you fit the bill, we’d love to hear from you! To apply, please submit an application including your current CV.
