Are you a payroll professional looking for a flexible and autonomous role?
Currently we are seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Officer to manage the end-to-end payroll functions for both site-based and salaried staff. This is a stand-alone position with responsiblity for two distinct payroll streams within a growing and supportive organisation.
About the Role:
In this key role, you will take ownership of the entire payroll process for approximately 80 employees across:
- Site-based staff – covered under an enterprise agreement (weekly payroll)
- Salaried employees – fortnightly paid professionals
You'll be the go-to person for all payroll matters, working closely with HR and Finance.
The position offers hybrid working with a minimum 2 days in the office (Melbourne city location) and a 4-day work week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process end-to-end payrolls for site-based and salaried staff
- Calculate allowances, overtime, RDOs, and other entitlements
- Process new starters, terminations, and adjustments
- Interpret awards, EAs, and employment contracts accurately
- Ensure compliance with tax, superannuation, and Fair Work obligations
- Manage payroll queries and provide timely support to employees
- Prepare payroll reports, journals, and reconciliations for month-end
- Liaise with external bodies such as the ATO, super funds, and auditors
- Continuously improve payroll processes and documentation
- Human Resources administration tasks/responsibilities
About You:
- 5+ years of end-to-end payroll experience, preferably in Construction or a project-based industry
- Experience with multiple payroll streams and payroll systems, experience with Aurion highly regarded
- Experience with interpreting industrial instruments and employment law
- Strong Excel skills
- Exceptional attention to detail, discretion, and time management
- Confident communicator with a collaborative approach
- Ability to work independently and report to executive leadership
