The Role Looking for a hands-on role where your skills truly matter? We’re on the lookout for a proactive and reliable Maintenance Officer to join our team 3 days a week at our residential aged care facility in Campbell. As our Maintenance Officer, you’ll take ownership of the facility’s upkeep, ensuring everything operates efficiently and safely. You’ll be the go-to person for identifying issues, coordinating repairs, and keeping our environment at the highest standard. What are your key responsibilities?

  • Conduct regular inspections of the facility to identify and address maintenance needs, including plumbing, electrical, and general building upkeep.
  • Perform or coordinate repairs and routine maintenance tasks to ensure all equipment and systems function efficiently and safely.
  • Develop and implement a preventive maintenance schedule to minimize breakdowns and extend the life of facility systems and equipment.
  • Conduct regular checks and maintenance on critical systems, including fire alarms, emergency lighting, and safety equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations, including infection control protocols specific to aged care.
  • Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialised repairs and maintenance services.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including work orders, repair logs, and service reports.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a similar role
  • Experience and understanding of Computerised Maintenance Management Software (CMMS) or Computer Aided Facilities Management (CAFM) (Desirable)
  • Property Management / Construction experience
  • Understanding of the BCA (Building Code of Australia), NCC (National Construction Code) and Australian Standards.
  • Current driver’s license
  • Ability to use portable devices, including but not limited to Phone, tablets, laptops at an intermediate level
  • Sensitivity to the needs of the elderly in a residential care setting
