We take pride in the work we do and in creating a dynamic, supportive and expert environment where our people can thrive. As a result of this approach, Stannards is experiencing strong growth and is now ranked within the AFR’s Top 50 chartered accounting and advisory firms.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Audit Manager to lead end-to-end audit engagements, build strong client relationships, and drive continuous improvement across our audit function.

This role is ideal for a commercially minded professional with strong analytical skills and a background in audit within a professional services environment. It presents an excellent opportunity to grow your career within a dynamic and expanding team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage audit engagements from planning through to completion, ensuring quality, timeliness and compliance with professional standards.
  • Review audit files, financial statements and related reporting deliverables across a diverse client portfolio.
  • Manage client relationships effectively, acting as a trusted adviser and primary point of contact throughout the engagement process.
  • Oversee engagement planning, risk assessment, budgeting, resourcing and delivery to meet client and internal deadlines.
  • Provide technical guidance to team members on audit, accounting and financial reporting matters.
  • Supervise, coach and develop junior team members, supporting their growth and performance.
  • Identify issues, risks and improvement opportunities early, and escalate matters appropriately to Directors and Partners.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of regulatory, economic and industry developments relevant to clients and the broader audit environment.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including audit methodology, systems, processes and client service delivery.
  • Support business development activities, including proposal input, networking and identifying opportunities to expand client relationships.

About You

You’re a commercially minded audit professional who enjoys working in a fast paced environment. You are experienced in delivering audits to clients and leading and developing a high performance team.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/related business disciplines
  • CA or CPA qualification (or equivalent)
  • 7+ years’ experience in Audit
  • Strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presentation.
  • Strong attention to detail combined with a commercial, problem-solving mindset.
  • Previous experience in managing and supporting a team.

Why Join Stannards?

At Stannards, we offer more than just a job — we offer the opportunity to build your career in a firm that is growing, collaborative and committed to excellence. You’ll be supported by experienced professionals, exposed to a diverse client base, and given opportunities to develop your skills and progress your career in a meaningful way.
