Are you a developer with solid foundations who is looking for a role where you can grow, learn and build software that makes a real difference?

Tassal is seeking a Software Developer to join our Digital & Data team and help drive the digitisation of Australia’s largest salmon producer. This is an exciting opportunity for a developer who is passionate about systems digitisation, application development and automation, and keen to broaden their skills across a diverse and modern technology stack.

Based from our Head Office at Franklin Wharf in Hobart or our Sydney Olympic Park office, with hybrid working flexibility, you will support digitisation initiatives across the entire business - from ocean farming and hatcheries through to processing, supply chain and corporate functions.

We have an extensive portfolio of digital solutions already in place, and this role will see you designing, building and supporting both new and existing applications that have a tangible impact on how the business operates.

This is a growth role. You do not need to tick every box on day one. We will invest in the right person through hands-on experience, mentoring from senior team members and ongoing professional development. What matters most is strong technical foundations, curiosity and a genuine desire to learn and take ownership.

What You Will Be Doing

• Designing and building custom business applications to digitise and streamline operational processes
• Developing and maintaining integrations across enterprise systems, APIs and our modern data platform
• Partnering with business stakeholders to understand challenges and translate requirements into working software
• Contributing to our low-code Centre of Excellence, including governance, documentation and reusable components
• Working alongside data engineers, analytics engineers and business systems specialists in a cross-functional team
• Supporting existing applications by resolving issues, delivering enhancements and ensuring stable performance

About YouEssential experience and capability

• Knowledge of the Power Platform (Canvas and Model-Driven Power Apps, Power Automate) or equivalent platforms, or a demonstrated ability and willingness to learn new technologies quickly
• Experience with, or solid understanding of, relational database design (Dataverse, SQL or similar)
• 2+ years’ experience in a software development or related technical role
• High-code development skills (C#, Python, TypeScript or JavaScript), with React experience highly valued
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs and working across integrated systems
• Strong understanding of source control (Git) and modern development practices
• Comfortable engaging with stakeholders and translating business needs into technical solutions
• Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences

Bonus points for

• Experience with Dynamics 365 (Field Service, Sales or Customer Service) or Business Central
• Exposure to Azure services such as Functions, Logic Apps or DevOps
• Familiarity with modern data platforms or data engineering concepts (Snowflake, dbt)
• Experience in aquaculture, agriculture, manufacturing, FMCG or similar environments
• Exposure to optimisation algorithms, solvers or scheduling tools (e.g. Google OR-Tools)
• Experience using AI tooling to support or accelerate delivery
