This is a permanent full-time night shift position, working Sunday night to Friday morning from 11:00pm to 7:00am.
You will take a hands-on approach to leading day-to-day depot operations, coordinating the team and resources to ensure the operation runs safely, efficiently and delivers a high level of service to our customers.
You will lead and support the team while maintaining a strong focus on safety, service, productivity and operational performance.
What you’ll do
- Lead and supervise the day-to-day depot operations
- Coordinate staffing, labour and equipment requirements
- Lead, coach and support employees across the operation
- Manage productivity, service levels and operational costs
- Monitor operational KPIs and identify opportunities for improvement
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in line with company procedures
- Investigate service failures and lost or damaged freight and follow through on corrective actions
- Coordinate freight movements and linehaul activities
- Support the efficient loading, unloading, sorting and movement of freight
- Ensure compliance with safety, transport and regulatory requirements
- Work closely with the wider team to ensure customer service expectations are met
- Previous supervisory or leadership experience within transport, logistics, warehousing or a similar operational environment
- Experience leading, coaching and motivating operational teams
- Strong communication and people management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and time-sensitive environment
- Good problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
- Understanding of safety and transport compliance requirements
- Experience managing KPIs, productivity and operational performance
- Strong planning, organisation and time management skills
- Ability to coordinate labour and equipment based on operational requirements
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
- Experience within freight, parcels or transport operations will be highly regarded
- Current Driver’s Licence
- Forklift Licence will be highly regarded
- Dangerous Goods, HSE and Risk Reporting experience or qualifications will be advantageous
