Senior Account Executive - with account service + media planning skills
Reporting to - Account Lead, with a shared direct report (Media Assistant)
Clients - ENGIE, Hino, Federation University, Commonwealth Superannuation Corporation, and any other new business
IMPORTANCE OF THE ROLE:
A Senior Media Executive in a media agency plans, buys, and optimises multi-channel campaigns (digital/offline) to meet client goals, acting as a strategic lead. They translate client objectives into actionable media plans, analyse campaign data for ROI optimisation, negotiate with vendors, and often mentor junior team members. They must have proven experience in media planning and buying, typically within an agency environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS ROLE:
- Media Planning & Strategy: Develop and deliver end-to-end media strategies across digital (paid social, search, programmatic) and offline channels based on past campaigns, research, and client goals.
- Campaign Management & Buying: Execute media buys, negotiate rates with publishers, and oversee campaign pacing, tracking, and quality assurance.
- Analysis & Optimisation: Utilise measurement tools to analyse campaign performance, providing actionable insights and optimisation recommendations to maximise ROI.
- Client Management: Support client communications regarding performance reporting, and campaign results.
- Mentorship: Support and guide the Media Assistant, ensuring high-quality output with quality checks in place.
- Budgeting: Manage financial processes, including budget allocation, invoicing, and ensuring Service Level Agreements are adhered to.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS ROLE:
- Responsible for ensuring that campaign media budgets are adhered to and correctly reconciled under the supervision of the Account Lead/Finance, including proforma invoice checking against planned/forecast.
- Collaborate with client agency partners (advertising/creative, digital) to ensure holistic campaign delivery & seamless execution that delivers against client objectives. Follow the parameters of each client’s process.
- Responsible for analysis and responding to clients and/or media on all relevant proposals & requests.
KEY ATTRIBUTES:
- Develops a thorough knowledge of all available data sources within the agency (Nielsen CMV, AQX/AdIntel, eTam/eRam) and is able to tell stories from data, i.e. go beyond the numbers
- Proficient in Microsoft Office – Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint (mandatory)
- Understands the importance of confidentiality and attention to detail
- Communicates effectively to manage expectations and elevate challenges to ensure they are dealt with quickly
- Follows process but also be able to suggest improvements to the existing process
- Demonstrates a willingness to be more client-facing, including developing social and presentation skills
- Able to demonstrate independent thinking and self-motivation
- Strong communication skills, particularly document writing and presentation skills
- Highly organised with effective project and time management skills
- Comfortable dealing with people of all levels and able to take directions
