About The Role Tomago Aluminium is seeking an experienced and values‑led Manager - Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) to play a pivotal role in shaping the safety, health and environmental performance of our operations. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, you will lead our Safety Transformation Project and embed Lean Environment principles to deliver a step‑change in safety culture, risk management and environmental outcomes. As a member of the senior leadership team, you will provide strategic leadership, expert advice and practical support across the business, ensuring safe, healthy and environmentally responsible work is embedded in everything we do. The role is central to enabling reliable operations, strengthening leadership accountability, and nurturing a workplace where people feel safe, respected and supported. Key Responsibilities Include
- Lead the development and delivery of Health, Safety & Environment strategy, plans and governance frameworks
- Drive the Safety Transformation Project, improving safety culture, leadership behaviours and risk ownership across the business
- Develop, implement and continuously improve integrated HSE management systems aligned to regulatory and Lean principles
- Strengthen process safety performance, including oversight of critical controls and learning from high‑potential events
- Coach and influence leaders to embed safe, healthy and environmentally responsible work practices
- Lead and develop a high‑performing HSE team, building capability and engagement
- Build effective relationships with regulators, owners and external partners
- Embed Tomago Aluminium’s values of Teamwork, Achievement and Care through inclusive leadership, accountability and everyday behaviours
About youYou are a collaborative and credible leader with a strong operational mindset and a genuine commitment to keeping people safe. You bring the confidence to challenge constructively, the influence to lead change, and the practicality to embed safety into everyday work. You Will Ideally Bring
- Significant leadership experience in health, safety and environmental management within asset‑intensive or heavy industrial environments
- Demonstrated success leading safety improvement or transformation initiatives in complex operational settings
- Strong experience in process safety management, including governance of critical controls and high‑risk systems
- Practical application of Lean, continuous improvement or systems‑based approaches to reduce risk and simplify processes
- Proven ability to influence senior leaders, engage the workforce and deliver meaningful cultural change
- Tertiary qualifications in Safety Management, Environment, Risk Management or a related discipline
- Professional accreditation (or eligibility) with a recognised safety or risk management body (desirable)
