The Risk and Compliance Officer is the primary point of reporting, maintaining and collating risk and compliance across WAPHA. The role will coordinate compliance and risk, providing advice on compliance and risk management practices throughout the organisation, using their expertise and skills to ensure best practice and regulatory obligations are met. The Risk and Compliance Specialist will provide support to the Senior Leadership Team, Board and its Committees in managing WAPHA’s risk activities. The role also leads and maintains WAPHA’s QIC Health and Community Services Standards accreditation, ensuring continuous readiness and a culture of compliance Location: WAPHA Head Office, Level 2, 1 Hood Street, Subiaco (Hybrid Role)Employment Type: Maximum term contract for 2 yearsSalary: Band 5 ($110k-$124k Plus 12% Superannuation & Salary Packaging)Key Tasks And Responsibilities

  • Align and maintain WAPHA’s risk enterprise and operational risk management framework aligned to ISO standards.
  • Lead organisational risk processes including risk registers, notifiable incidents, compliance reporting, legal obligations and conflict of interest processes.
  • Prepare high quality risk, quality and compliance insights through reports to Executive, Committees and the Board to support decision making.
  • Lead accreditation and coordinate QIC Standards, audits and evidence to ensure continuous compliance and readiness.
  • Strengthen assurance by monitoring compliance with contractual, regulatory, accreditation and internal policy requirements.
  • Analyse quality data and trends to identify trends, risks and continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Develop, review and embed risk and quality policies, procedures and frameworks.
  • Build organisational capability, with respect to risk management, with training and communication.
  • Partner with stakeholders to integrate risk, compliance and quality into planning, projects and decision making.

About YouTo be considered for this role, candidates must meet the following selection criteria:Essential Experience And Education

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in risk, quality, governance, business, health administration, or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated experience applying risk management frameworks and quality assurance practices
  • Demonstrated experience in risk, compliance and assurance systems and processes
  • Proven ability to translate complex concepts into clear, practical guidance.
  • Highly developed analytical and reporting skills with experience in interpreting data, assessing risks, and producing insightful reports.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, collaboration and ability to influence without formal authority
  • High level of organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment

Preferred Knowledge And Skills

  • Experience with Board and Committee reporting
  • Exposure to health, community services or regulated environments
  • Experience supporting organisational frameworks and change initiatives
