Exclusive Opportunity: Lead Disability-Led Arts Employment in Australia – $60k Package

The Diversity Arts Australia Consortium is seeking a dedicated Program Coordinator for the Arts and Screen Employment Pathways Pilot Program. This is an identified position for d/Deaf and/or Disabled people, requiring direct lived experience of disability.
About the Role
As the Program Coordinator, you will lead the day-to-day operations of this groundbreaking initiative. Your primary focus will be to embed Disability-led practice across the program, coordinate essential training (including Disability Justice, Creative Equity, and First Nations Cultural Safety), and facilitate access for participants.
This role is crucial for connecting early-to-mid-career d/Deaf and Disabled artists with host organizations through supported matching processes. You will ensure placements are accessible, equitable, and culturally safe.
Key Responsibilities & Timeline
- Project Coordination: Manage milestones, records, and consortium activities.
- Host Recruitment (Oct–Dec 2026): Oversee national recruitment of ~20 diverse host organizations, prioritizing regional, remote, and marginalized-led entities.
- Accessibility Audits (Dec 2026–Feb 2027): Coordinate audits using designated tools to ensure workplace accessibility.
- Training Coordination: Deliver Disability Justice and Cultural Safety training by February 2027.
- Participant Recruitment (By Mar 2027): Manage accessible application processes and Disability-led interview panels.
- Placement Support: Provide ongoing advocacy, mentoring, and conflict resolution throughout the 12-month placements.
- Access Facilitation: Identify barriers and coordinate supports via JobAccess and the Employment Assistance Fund (EAF).
- Reporting: Collect data and feedback to shape future government policy.
Essential Selection Criteria
To succeed in this role, you must:
- Identify as d/Deaf and/or Disabled with direct lived experience.
- Have coordination or project management experience in the arts/screen sectors.
- Demonstrate experience working with d/Deaf and Disabled communities or within Disability-led practice.
- Exhibit excellent communication skills, building collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Show proven ability to identify disabling barriers and facilitate workplace adjustments.
- Work respectfully with First Nations and culturally/racially marginalized participants.
- Maintain high ethical standards regarding confidential information and wellbeing.
Terms & Benefits
- Contract Length: 18 months.
- Salary: $54,000 base salary + $6,480 superannuation ($60,480 total package) based on 3 days per week.
- Hours: Part-time (3 days/week), equivalent to a $90k FTE salary.
- Location: Based in Parramatta, with some interstate travel required (access arrangements provided).
- Support: Onboarding, mentoring, and support for workplace adjustments via EAF.
- Leave: Portable Long Service Leave offered.
