Significant Job Reductions Announced
In a major organizational restructure, the state's environmental regulator will cut approximately 8 per cent of its workforce. This move includes the elimination of senior executive roles, aligning with the NSW Labor government's policy to reduce management positions within the public service.
Details of the Job Cuts
Environment Protection Authority (EPA) chief executive Tony Chappel disclosed these changes in an internal staff memo following a town hall meeting. The cuts will affect 69 permanent jobs, in addition to six senior executive positions. Currently, the EPA employs 885 permanent staff, highlighting the scale of this reduction.
This restructuring reflects broader trends in public sector employment and could have implications for job security and career paths in environmental regulation.
