The National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) is seeking a Media and Public Affairs Coordinator to develop and deliver publicity campaigns that support the NGV’s communications, public relations, and audience engagement strategies.
Position Details
- VPS 3.2 Level: $89,292 per annum + 12% superannuation
- Employment Type: Full Time, Fixed Term for 2 years

About the Role
In this role, you will be responsible for media and publicity campaigns, including pitching ideas, drafting media materials, and organizing media events for NGV’s exhibitions and programs. You will work closely with the Senior Publicist and Associate Director, Media and Public Affairs.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute publicity and content campaigns to promote NGV’s exhibitions, major events, programs, festivals, and activities.
- Identify, develop, and maintain key relationships with local, national, and international media to enhance promotion efforts.
- Collaborate with the Senior Publicist and teams in Marketing and Corporate Partnerships to support strategic goals through media and content campaigns.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including government bodies like Creative Victoria and Visit Victoria, media and tourism partners, museum partners, suppliers, copyright agencies, and internal departments, to ensure coordinated communication activities.
- Contribute to reports on Media and Public Affairs department activities and provide administrative and logistical support for publicity and media efforts.
Qualifications and Skills
To succeed in this role, you should have:
- A tertiary qualification in communications or public relations.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing media and communication strategies in corporate, marketing, and public affairs environments.
- Excellent creative writing and editorial skills.
- The ability to convey ideas clearly and interestingly, understand target audience needs, and welcome constructive feedback.
- Proficiency in preparing media releases, key messages, speeches, letters, and reports using clear, concise language.
- Evidence of a wide range of media contacts and skills in adding value for stakeholders while monitoring satisfaction.
