As an Economist in ASIC's Strategic Intelligence (SI) team, you'll play a key role in identifying market trends, evaluating risks and opportunities and forecasting future challenges using diverse data sources. Your insights will directly support ASIC's strategic decision-making and help the organisation stay ahead of regulatory and financial system developments. The role may sit within one of three streams: Economic and Risk Analysis, Strategic Data and Analysis, or Operational Intelligence and Strategy.
- Location – Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane or Canberra
- Salary starting from $97,401 (depending on experience) plus 15.4% superannuation

The team Join ASIC's Strategic Intelligence (SI) team within the Registry & Intelligence group, where you'll produce actionable insights that shape organisational strategy and support confident participation in Australia's financial system. This role combines economic analysis with structured environmental scanning to deliver proactive intelligence on ASIC's regulatory operating environment, helping leadership and staff make informed decisions. The roleAs An Economist, You Will
- Deliver clear, actionable economic and intelligence insights to support evidence-based decisions
- Research strategic and emerging risks and opportunities to guide ASIC's priorities and policy
- Prepare reports , and briefings that simplify complex economic and market analysis for senior leaders and stakeholders
- Contribute to environmental scanning and strategic analysis across ASIC
- Collaborate on multi-disciplinary projects, offering economic expertise and insights
- Monitor market trends and developments to inform intelligence on regulated sectors
- Support project planning and administration
- Design and apply research methodologies, including scanning frameworks and scenario analysis
- Influence regulatory decision-making through forward-looking insights
About You In addition, you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in economics, finance, law, communications, or related fields
- Strong understanding of ASIC's regulatory role, market dynamics, and consumer outcomes
- Knowledge of current economic and financial issues relevant to ASIC
- Proven ability to conduct high-quality qualitative and quantitative analysis
- Skilled in presenting complex information clearly to varied audiences
- Creative and driven in testing and communicating research outcomes
