The team The Enterprise Services Group consists of four teams including Finance, Procurement, Property and Contracts, Performance Reporting and Planning, and the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Program. The Group provides a range of support, advice and analysis services across ASIC. Finance provides strategic oversight of ASIC's financial resources and associated reporting and compliance activities. The Financial Accounting team is responsible for statutory financial reporting obligations, including preparation of the year-end financial statements and associated work papers, ASIC's overall financial control environment and policies that support the achievement of ASIC objectives, whilst ensuring compliance with legislative, statutory and other mandatory requirements. The roleYou Will Be Accountable For Leading Teams Responsible For

  • Providing high-level expertise, advice, and support on statutory, legislative, and financial standards, including managing statutory financial reporting obligations under Australian Accounting Standards and the PGPA Act, and developing internal position papers.
  • Managing and continuously improving ASIC's financial framework, policies, procedures, education programs, and governance frameworks to ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulations, statutory and legislative requirements, and government directions.
  • Offering strategic and technical expertise, overseeing the entry of information into the Central Budget Management System, coordinating financial inputs into the Portfolio Budget Statements, and communicating effectively with internal and external stakeholders, as well as Finance team members.
  • Overseeing ASIC's end-to-end asset accounting framework, leading ongoing improvements to fixed asset accounting processes, and balancing external compliance requirements with efficient processes to identify best practice models for financial policies and frameworks that support a diverse group of stakeholders.

You Will Be Accountable For

  • Providing strategic direction, technical expertise, and industry knowledge to the CFO, Senior ASIC leadership teams, and the Commission, while implementing legislative and policy changes, overseeing statutory reporting processes and leading teams to resolve complex issues and improve business operations.
  • Preparing external reports, briefings, and responses for various stakeholders, representing ASIC in discussions with Central Agencies, and providing coaching and guidance to team members as an active member of the senior leadership team.
  • As a Senior Manager, Financial Accounting, your role involves achieving business goals, fostering a productive work environment, ensuring personal effectiveness, overseeing team output and behaviour, building a committed team and driving process improvements to maximise performance.

About You To thrive in this role, you'll need a qualification in Finance, Accounting, Business, or Commerce, along with a CPA or CA qualification. Your deep knowledge of Australian accounting standards and experience in managing year-end financial statements will be essential. You'll provide complex advice and guidance to senior executives, with a strong understanding of government financial processes. Leading a team, you will coach for development, monitor workflows, and set ambitious targets to ensure success. Your expertise in driving change management and leading projects across various accounting functions will be highly valued. You'll manage complex transactions and compliance processes, using critical thinking and judgment from your corporate or government Finance experience. Your ability to influence senior executives and gain support for initiatives will be key. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, are crucial, as is experience preparing reports using excel and financial management systems in government or mid-size organisation will be highly beneficial.
