Another important milestone in the AXS journey was the establishment of our Australian and New Zealand (ANZ) operations in 2023. The AXS team in ANZ are raising the standards in this region with their different approach; highly focused on exceptional people, strong partnerships with their clients along with their seamless and reliable technology.
The ANZ headquarters are based in Melbourne where the company brings its cutting-edge technology and expertise to deliver better experiences for our fans and clients. AXS has recently expanded its operations in the Australian and New Zealand markets with a dedicated office in Brisbane, Queensland.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Business Development Manager is a newly created role due to our continued growth in the ANZ region.
As our Business Development Manager for AXS ANZ, you will be instrumental in identifying and securing new business opportunities, forging strategic partnerships, and developing exceptional relationships with new and potential clients such as promoters, venues and other relevant organisations.
In this role, the Business Development Manager, will be developing new business and renewal pipelines, selling AXS technology, capabilities and services to clients in key markets across Australia and New Zealand. You will earn and keep each client’s respect and confidence as a trusted adviser.
Reporting to the Head of Business Development (based in Melbourne), the Business Development Manager will acquire in-depth knowledge of and be conversant in the client’s business – their key issues, competitive situation, industry trends and individual market dynamics. Our ideal candidate will be a natural connector who excels at chasing down new opportunities and establishing and nurturing relationships.
To succeed in this role, you will bring a strong track record in new business sales, with demonstrated success in meeting or exceeding targets, preferably within the ticketing or live entertainment industry, and a well-established network of industry relationships. The ideal candidate will be motivated by the opportunity to create value and build meaningful client relationships that drive results.
As part of your role, the Business Development Manager will become a subject matter expert on our product and will advise, assist, and advocate for all AXS products and services.
This full time role will either be based in Melbourne (head office), Brisbane or Sydney and will require regular travel within Australia and New Zealand.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Responsible for building and maintaining sales and renewal pipelines, selling the AXS offerings and responding to formal tenders to a range of clients including, but not limited to, music venue clients, live entertainment venues, promoters and other relevant organisations. Proactively explore and deliver solutions to increase revenue opportunities across these stakeholders to inform business development pipeline activities.
- Proactively cultivate relationships between existing and newly acquired clients to grow our footprint, increase ticket sales and pipeline opportunities as well as AXS brand awareness.
- Work with the Head of Business Development on sales processes including, but not limited to, financial modeling, competitive and market analysis to certify segment viability across a range of pipeline portfolios. Be well researched and prepared to ensure that the offering is market leading.
- Lead sales pitches for designated portfolios drawing on support from across the AXS team including developing and delivering bespoke pitch presentations and representing our brand with upmost integrity in accordance with our values and expectations.
- Work with the AXS Head of Business Development in support of other pipeline activities outside your designated portfolio to further enhance commercial processes and acquisition opportunities.
- Proactively stay well-informed about industry trends and developments, while actively attending industry and client events to grow and strengthen your professional network.
- Manage regular internal reporting, updates and analysis requests to AXS ANZ leadership as required.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
- Tertiary education in Business, Communications, Marketing, or related field is preferable.
- 4-5 years of related experience in sales ideally within the music, sport, live entertainment or a related field.
- A passion for the live entertainment and sports industry markets in Australia and New Zealand.
- An ability to open doors and get in front of decision makers and influencers of ticketing decisions in the sport and entertainment industries
- Strong natural selling skills with proven experience in pitch and strategic positioning.
- Proven track record of negotiating with the ability to be innovative to achieve outcomes.
- Ability to perform successfully within a fast-paced, results-driven, dynamic, and highly collaborative work environment.
- Proven ability to listen, extrapolate information and leverage resources to effectively provide solutions to meet current or future client’s needs.
- Must have the ability to understand the big picture and successfully position solution strategies, product demonstrations and verbal sales presentations appropriately.
- Exemplary problem-solving, verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Possess a high degree of poise and professionalism when presenting and interacting with internal and external clients.

- Previous ticketing experience and ideally have existing relationships with decision makers and influencers across the live entertainment and sports industry.
IT’S ALSO IMPORTANT THAT YOU KNOW

- Our ideal team member will have the ability to travel frequently to meet with clients. This may include during evenings and weekends throughout the year.
