Work in a supportive team that values professionalism and integrityEngage directly with the community and contribute to real solutionsHone your investigative and regulatory skills in a dynamic environment LET’S EXPLORE THE JOB In this role you will administer and enforce compliance responsibilities across a range of environmental and development matters. Your work will involve investigating illegal dumping, pollution, sediment control issues and unauthorised development, along with preparing reports, notices and other statutory instruments. You will conduct interviews, undertake patrols and surveillance and prepare statements and briefs of evidence to support regulatory action. Representing Council in court will be required and you will do so with professionalism and confidence. You will also contribute to community education programs that promote responsible land use and environmental protection. Although you will work independently much of the time, you will be part of a collaborative and supportive team that values initiative and a commitment to quality outcomes. The position is based at Council’s Works Depot, requires travel across multiple sites and shifts may extend past standard working hours. The position also involves court attendance to represent Council during legal proceedings. Responding to customer requests in a timely and professional manner is a critical part of this role. To be considered for this role, you will meet the following criteria: Diploma qualifications in policing, investigations, environmental law or equivalent and/or extremely high-level compliance/enforcement experience.Thorough working knowledge of Local Government law enforcement issues and relevant legislation, particularly theProtection of the Environment Operations Act 1997.Demonstrated high-level experience in investigations, brief preparation and the presentation of evidence at Court.Demonstrated high level negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
