Project Accountant(Project & Commercial Focus)We are seeking an experienced and commercially astute Project Accountant to take ownership of company and project-level financial performance across a dynamic portfolio. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a project-driven environment and enjoys partnering closely with operational teams to drive margin, cash flow, and performance accuracy.The RoleAs Project Accountant, you will report to the CFO, with direct exposure to CEO as the company actively pursues acquisition and growth opportunities as it’s next step in it’s evolution. You will be the financial lead across the project portfolio, with full oversight of cost, margin, cash flow, and WIP. You will play a key role in business performance reporting, forecasting, commercial decision support, and financial governance.This is a hands-on role requiring strong analytical capability, commercial acumen, and systems ownership. Key ResponsibilitiesBusiness Performance & Project ControlContinuously improve project-level financial performance reporting and forecastingOptimise and embed project cost to complete and reporting dashboardsEnsure accuracy of project margin reporting and WIPPartner with operational teams to drive financial accountability via monthly project cost reviewsRegularly review job costing activity ratesCommercial & Bid SupportSupport pricing frameworksReview and challenge material project deviationsContribute financial inputs to bid pricingManage day-to-day commercial levers including variations, claims, and cost controlRevenue Recognition & WIPOwn revenue recognition methodology and controlsCalculate Percentage of Completion (POC), WIP, and accrualsMaintain detailed project financial evidence and documentationReporting & DeliverablesPrepare monthly management accountsDeliver cost-to-complete and margin analysisProduce WIP schedules and project financial reportsProvide billing and commercial reporting supportSystems & Process OwnershipOwn ERP and project financial reporting system integrityDrive standardisation, governance, and controlsEnsure accurate project system inputsRecommend process improvements based on operational insights About YouQualified accountant (CA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)Strong experience in project-based or contract-driven environmentsDeep understanding of revenue recognition and POC accountingProven experience managing WIP and cost-to-complete forecastingCommercially confident with strong stakeholder partnering skillsERP systems experience with a focus on process integrityHigh attention to detail with strong analytical capabilityProactive, solution-oriented, and comfortable challenging assumption If you think you have the skills and experience to succeed in this role, we would love to hear from you.
