About The Role We're seeking an experienced Store Manager to lead the project store's function supporting the HCC REZ Project in Newcastle. This role is responsible for establishing and managing a compliant, efficient, and accurate stores and inventory operation, ensuring project materials are received, inspected, stored, tracked, issued, and reported to meet construction schedules and client requirements. You'll work closely with project delivery teams, logistics providers, suppliers, and client stakeholders to ensure materials are available when and where they're needed, while maintaining strong governance over stock control, quality reporting, and safety. Key Responsibilities
- Set up and maintain effective stores/inventory systems and processes, including secure storage, site layout, and clear material flow.
- Coordinate receipting, inspection, and documentation of inbound materials; identify, quarantine, and report damaged/defective goods in line with project and client requirements.
- Maintain high standards of inventory accuracy, traceability, and audit readiness.
- Manage timely issue and replenishment of materials to field teams to support on-site productivity and construction program milestones.
- Coordinate logistics and transport, including scheduling deliveries, unload/loading activities, and distribution to work fronts.
- Proactively communicate material status to project leadership and client representatives.
- Support stores labour and equipment planning, including supervising operators/yard personnel as required.
- Uphold SHEQ standards, including hazard identification, compliance with SWMS/JHAs, housekeeping, and safe traffic and lifting practices.
Skills and ExperienceEssential
- Demonstrated experience in stores/materials management within construction, utilities, energy, or major infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of inventory control practices (receipting, QA checks, stock movements, cycle counts, reconciliations).
- Experience using ERP/inventory systems and strong administration/document control capability.
- Proven ability to coordinate transport/logistics and manage competing priorities in a high-volume environment.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Current driver's licence and ability to meet site entry requirements (e.g., medical/fitness for work, police check if required).
Desirable:
- Certificate IV in Warehousing Operations (or equivalent) and/or relevant tickets (forklift, dogging/rigging, hazardous materials awareness where applicable).
- Experience managing free-issue/client-supplied materials and reporting defects/surpluses.
- Experience supporting transmission/energy projects and handling large, high-value or long-lead materials.
