About The Role Drive the future of transport in Hobart. In this role, you lead bold strategic planning projects, push forward innovative street‑design concepts, and actively bring stakeholders together to champion smarter, more sustainable ways of moving around our city. Your work will shape how people experience Hobart for years to come. Role Accountabilities Include

  • Lead the design, planning and delivery of strategic transport projects and policies in collaboration with project managers, engineers and planners.
  • Drive best‑practice transport strategy and policy development to support a contemporary, sustainable urban environment.
  • Champion sustainable mobility by developing and managing projects that promote active and public transport across Hobart.
  • Lead engagement with the community, stakeholders and partners to shape future transport strategies and projects.
  • Prepare clear, high‑quality reports, briefings and presentations for Elected Members, senior leaders and key stakeholders.
  • Build strong partnerships across government agencies, industry groups and the community to support coordinated transport outcomes.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to planners and engineers, helping communicate complex issues and build shared solutions.

Learn more about the role in the position description: Position Description About You You hold a relevant degree in planning, geography, engineering or a related field, along with a current driver licence. You bring experience in design, policy, project management or engineering, with a solid understanding of best‑practice transport planning and the local government context. You’re confident managing transport, mobility or street‑design projects, and you communicate clearly, whether writing reports or engaging with stakeholders. You think strategically, analyse issues effectively and negotiate with sound judgement. Collaborative by nature, you work well across teams and build strong relationships. You lead projects with professionalism, delivering work on time and within budget in complex government environments. If you possess strong attention to detail and perform effectively in a high‑volume work environment, this role may be well suited to you.
